Quilting?????

I was cleaning my craft room yesterday and found tons and tons of scrap paper from Graphic 45 that I had used in making an album for a friend of mine. These scraps were really too small to use in anything but I had put them in a box and had forgotten about them……until…..

So, I was going to throw them out but then, I remembered seeing the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge where it calls for the use of patterned paper. So, I got to thinking about a card that looks like a quilt. I knew I could piece together the bits and pieces but wasn’t quite sure how to  really make it look like a quilt.

I searched on Pinterest for quilt patterns (which I based my card on) and found a site for paper quilting ideas. There was a photo of a card that looked like a quilt. I clicked on it and found Stampinpretty.com “Quilting with Paper”.  It talks about how Mary Fish, blog owner, shares Ellen Smallwood’s designs on quilting with paper. They are gorgeous! But, it just gave quilting patterns. I needed to know how they made it look like a quilt so, looking closer I notice that they used an embossing folder. I looked through my stash and found Sizzix Country Foliage and thought it might do the trick.

There isn’t too much thinking on what to do except cut and paste and lots of measuring. If I made a boo boo, I wasn’t going to stress on it.  I cut piece down and gluing it to olive green cardstock.

Like Ellen Smallwood, I kept the front without any further embellishment as to not detract from the “quilt”.

I will definitely do this again to use up bits and pieces….
