Back to it….

It’s been a bit rough the past few weeks. I’ve only posted little since the week after Easter due to a death in my husband’s family. Getting a grip on my own complicated feelings towards the death of my Mother in Law, while expected, happened all too quickly. Trying to support my husband only brought up a lot of mixed emotions (after 34 years of marriage to her son and after having cared for her during her illness)  therefore, I had NO mojo to work on cards or anything else for that matter.

But, life goes on so here I go…

Today’s card is a Christmas card…Nothing picks me up more than the holidays. I recently received some goodies from Lawn Fawn and wanted to try them out. Enjoy…..

It’s that time of year……

….for…. GRADUATIONS…. I’ve got a couple of graduations in the next month or so for various nieces and nephews as well as my friends’ kids. I have usually been not so good at making graduation cards…partly because I don’t really like what’s out there. There are only so many ways to put a tassel and hat… that is…until I found Tiddly Inks! They have the cutest graduation characters! I had such fun coloring them in and making this card. (This is the first one of many…)LOL

This one, in particular, is colored using the school colors. I used Copic pens BG02, B02, B12, B23, B24 , B26, C2, C4, C8, Y26, Y28, Y11, E000, E00 , E02, E 08, E18, E19, E30, R20, Sakura white gel pen and black gel pen.20170426_164311.jpg

I used the following materials: Tiddly Inks Digi stamps Graduate part and Grateful Graduate, Fiskars Monumental Moments Clear Stamps. Memento Tuxedo Black, Spellbinders Etched Alphabet, Foam Tape from Simon Says Stamp, Tombow Glue, Neenah Solar White 80 lb, colored cardstock

Tiddly wink at Tiddly Inks

Last year, I had seen Sandy Allnock color in a Tiddly Ink stamp on her vlog and thought that it was an adorable image. I found the stamp, as well as a couple of others, don’t remember where, and had them sent to me. That said, I was never able to find them again, or….so I thought! Ah..ha! I came across the Tiddly Inks Challenge blog a couple of days ago and bought some digi stamps. The theme is “Road Trip” so I saw “Snail Mail Wryn”. What better road trip than to take a snail? Of course, the trip is to bring wonderful greetings and I will be sending this off to a friend of mine in the states tomorrow! 🙂

I was thinking about coloring her on plain white Neenah Solar White cardstock but decided to fussy cut her and add a background so I drew in some large mushrooms. I hope you like it because I really enjoyed coloring it with a ton of Copic markers…really too many to list. I added a fairly thin foam tape and pasted her on top of the mushroom.

I am entering this in the Tiddly Inks challenge:

He loves me…he loves me not…

Ok…going a tad bit out of my comfort zone for this card but I really wanted to try something different. I wanted to use the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Flower Garden collection. Iìve tried several times to use it but have never like how anything turned out so today I was determined!

I was playing around with my Distress Oxides and realized that the only color I hadn’t used was Iced Spruce. Don’t know why as it is such a pretty muted green.  I had seen on a You Tube tutorial by Carol Held of Carol’s Craft Room how she mixed the Distress Oxide with a translucent medium. So, I set oI stamped the daisy in the position that I wanted with the Curved Square frame from Spellbinders on top, not sure how I wanted to go with it. I then fussy cut other stamps of the daisies. Since I did not have a stencil that I liked I used an old background die from Spellbinders Fancy Lattice and used that. I mixed the Iced Spruce distress oxide with translucent embossing paste, applied it and let it dry. I then colored around the image on the card with distress oxide, thought it too light so I went back in with some distress markers in Pumice Stone and worked my way out. I colored in the disk area with Copic markers, G85 and G99, but decided to leave everything else white. then glued them on top of the frame.

The final product is rather monochromatic but I think it works quite well and I am pleased with the result.

Splash it on

20170418_131006

I so love Simon Says Challenges…this week’s Monday Challenge is called “Splash it on” and it calls for incorporating water into the project. “It can be an image of water, or water coloring, or splashing water onto your creation.”

It sounded like fun and…since I am on some sort of quirky kick of making shaker cards I decided to use a Mermaid stamp that I have had for eons and do not remember who it is from.  I used Simon says hybrid inks, Scuba and Mint Candy, to color some acetate. My first tries were a bit too dark so on the third try I just went over lightly. I fussy cut the mermaid and colored her in using Copics, sandwiched everything in and violà. The background is white so that the water currents show up a bit more.

20170418_131038.jpg
It’s the little things that count under the sea!

I cut some starfish from an old Cuttlebug die, colored them and put Glossy Accents on top. I decided to put the wording of “It’s the little things that count” on the bottom to make it look as if it is a treasure chest at the bottom of the sea.

This was the first one….I decided to do a second one with a colored background and clear acetate.

20170418_131020.jpg
I get the impression she is calling out to the sailors passing by….you, me and the sea……

The glass beads and colored paper are stuff that I have in my stash. The white paper is Neenah Solar White 110lb.

Life is a bowl full of cherries!

Hello all,

Today I had such fun making this card! I adore Penny Black’s little mice and I used the “Homemade” stamp and its bowl of cherries!  You can just see that little guy waiting to eat! 🙂

20170413_135125 (2)

I colored the image using Copic pens  R14, R29, YG17, YG67 C1, C2, C3, Y00, E11, E93, E35, E00 R20, B12, B01 and B0000. I cut the rectangles using Lawn Fawn Stiched Rectangles. It’s a great card to give to a friend!

Simon Says Monday Challenge

Hello all, I was working with my new set of Lawn Fawn’s Out of this World’s stamp set. It is adorable. As the challenge is anything that hops I wanted to create the little20170412_103942 (2) space guy hopping on the moon. It’s a fun card and can be used for a boy’s birthday. I used distress inks for background and little crystals for the stars. Too bad you can’t see it too well. I used Jane Allen’s technique for coloring in the white outline of the cut-out and I like how she colored her moon in one of her cards for MFT.

Little Fairy Missing You

As you know, last week I was working on a card with a fairy digi stamp for a design team at Crafty Creations. As I really like this stamp I went ahead and made a couple of other cards. For the first one, I had imagined the fairy sitting on the moon thinking but I didn’t want just any moon. I like the Tim Holtz Alterations Crescent Moon and Stars Die and I wanted to use it, but I also wanted to make a shaker card and with the
is die, not so easy. So I cut out a template, and traced it onto the card and cut it out using an Exacto knife. The night sky was made with Brusho paints. I wanted to convey her state of mind. I colored the fairy with Copics, cut her out using my Brother Scan and Cut and put it all together.

The second card was easier, I had an extra piece of patterned paper with clouds from an earlier project, cut a frame with a pearlescent cardstock and placed her in the bottom left corner just sitting and thinking about how much she misses you. Both cards are A2 in size.

I am entering these cards is the following challenges

Supplies used:
Neenah Solar White paper, Brusho watercolor, Copic Markers, Little Fairy digi stamp from Bugaboo Digi Stamps, Momento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic multi-liner in sepia, white gel pen, small crystals for accents. various leftover papers from other projects.

A presto! Ciao!

Dragon Flyby Birthday Greetings

Hello all,

As I was watching some card making videos for inspiration and to learn new techniques, I came across K Werner Design where she was showing how to make a suspended shaker card. She said she got her idea from Jennifer McGuire. I have put cut out into a shaker and have had no problem with the object turning but I like this idea because it could really make the cut-out fly.

Since I received MFT’s Magical Dragons, I can’t stop using them. They are whimsical and lend to all types of cards.  I also love shaker cards so I thought to give this a try. I was working on a rainbow card (separate) but decided to use it in this one.

I like the white on white with a shot of color in the middle. It makes the card pop but since just white on the base card tends to be too blah I went ahead and embossed it using a Sizzix birthday embossing folder that I have had since who can remember.

20170406_094729-2
The dragon moves as if flying..

The background clouds were make using distress ink and a template cut from Fawn Lawn’s cloud border. The rainbow was cut from Simon Says Sentimental Circles. The dragon and rainbow are colored in Copic pens. The shaker bits are items found in the local sewing and Chinese shops here in Italy.  I found that the small pearls and crystals that are used in nail art are perfect for shakers. They are cheaper than I can get them online at card making supply stores.

Ciao a tutti,

Ciao!

Crafty Creations Challenge #339 Anything Goes For April 12

Hello all,

I just joined Crafty Creations Challenges Design Team and all I can say is that I am excited!  I hope I live up to all the beautiful cards that the design team has done.

Anyway… Challenge #339 is themed “Anything Goes” using  Bugaboo Digi Stamps, who happens to be the sponsor for this challenge. Their stamps are adorable! I fell in love with this little fairy sitting on a cloud.

One of the great things about digi stamps is that they can be resized. You just need to make sure that they are not pixel-ly. I start off by saving them in the original size (which usually is fairly large) and then sizing it down to what I need. I always print out a test run on printer paper before I print it out on cardstock. I have a laser printer so I let the toner cure or set and dry for a few hours before I use alcohol markers, otherwise, the image will smear.

After coloring her and fussy cutting her out I used MFT Homespun Gingham paper for the frames. I stamped and white embossed the larger frame just to shake things up a bit.

I really like how it turned out and hope you enjoy it. You’ll also enjoy Bugaboo Digi Stamps. Check them out!

Just so everyone knows, I’ve made three cards with this stamp that will be seen ASAP on this blog.

Ciao!

Ciao a tutti,

Ciao!!!!!!
