Today I want to show you a couple of cards that I made specifically for the Simon Says  Wednesday Challenge. When I saw the challenge my mind was “whirlin””. I really wanted to make some cards that had a masculine feel, so, looking through my dies I saw the Tattered Lace Sailing Ship and decided on this.  The frame is SSS Birthday Wishes but I cut out the birthday wishes part. The sea under the ship is from Lawn Fawn dies. I also just received some new Hero Arts ink pads with vibrant colors of the Sardinian sea so I knew that I just had to use them.

I actually did this card a few weeks back but did not post as I had wanted to send it to someone in the states. It should be there by now so I am posting. This person is very dear to me and this is a period that brings much sadness for those who remember loved ones who have passed on.

I was shopping one day in one of the many Chinese-owned stores in Italy. There are a lot of good buys but you need to know how to pick and choose. Anyway…I found these acrylic stamps for a dirt cheap price of Euro 1,90! There was a peacock one that was kind of cute. The quality isn’t too bad. I don’t know how it will hold up but we shall see. For those who don’t know, back during the renaissance the P

For those who don’t know, back during the renaissance the peacock was a Christian symbol of the Resurrection. I think it is a beautiful reminder as we near Easter of Christ’s gift to us in giving his mortal life for us that we can be reborn in Heaven.

In realtà ho fatto questa cartolina qualche settimane fa, ma non l’ho posto come avrei voluto perché volevo inviarla a qualcuno negli Stati Uniti. Dovrebbe essere già arrivata a questo punto così la metto sul blog. Questa persona mi è molto caro è in questo periodo gli molta tristezza perché ricordiamo i propri cari che non sono più con noi.

Stavo facendo un pò di shopping tre settimane fa in uno dei tanti negozi di proprietà cinese in Italia. Ci sono un sacco di buoni acquisti, ma è necessario sapere come scegliere. Comunque … Ho trovato questi timbri trasperenti ad un costo molto basso  (Euro 1,90)! C’era uno di pavone molto carino. La qualità non è neanche male.

Per coloro che non sanno, durante il Rinascimento il pavone era un simbolo cristiano della Resurrezione. Penso che sia un bel ricordo, siccome siamo in piena Quaresima e vicino la Pasqua, del dono che Cristo ci ha datto della sua vita mortale così possiamo rinascere in paradiso.

I have been trying to color the Penny Black T-Time stamps with Copic colors using a pale pink ink for the outline. I have fallen in love with Jane Allen’s way of coloring and rendering the stamps to an all new level. Yesterday, I tore up 4 trials because I was so frustrated. So now, with this last attempt, I didn’t like the background so I am attempting to fussy cut the darn thing and use it some way. I need to try and get my mojo back. If anyone has any hints on Copic coloring, I am all ears!

Ho cercato di colorare i timbri di  Penny Black T-Time con i colori Copic utilizzando un inchiostro rosa pallido per il contorno. Mi sono affascinata dal modo in cui Jane Allen colora con i Copic e rende i timbri più banali in qualcosa di speciale. Ieri, ho strappato 4 prove perché ero così frustrata. Adesso, con questo ultimo tentativo, non mi piaceva lo sfondo e allora, cerco di salvare l’immagine con il fussy cutting. Ho bisogno di ritrovare il mio mojo. Se qualcuno ha qualche suggerimento come colorare con i Copic, io sono tutto orecchie!

As I was browsing one of my favorite sites (My Favorite Things – both blog and website for inspiration) I came across their challenges. One was a “sketch” or rather a card layout.  I usually don’t follow layouts just because I am obtuse and I find them hard to follow. I know that sounds stupid but I think it’s because my cards never turn out as nice when I follow a particular layout. That said, I tried this one and of course, I had difficulties in trying to figure out what to do. I pulled out my MFT stamps and saw my “Lucky Dogs” set.  I love this set and it’s probably because I love dogs. The expressions on their little faces remind me of my dogs.

Anyway, my card is simply following the basic premise of the layout or sketch.

Mentre stavo navigando uno dei miei siti preferiti (My Favorite Things – sia blog e sito web per ispirazione) ho trovato uno delle loro sfide. Era per realizzare un biglietto con il loro layout. Io di solito non seguo i layout solo perché sono ottusa e li trovo difficile da seguire. So che vi sembra stupida, ma credo che sia perché i miei bigliettini non risultano così belli dopo quando seguo un layout particolare. Detto questo, ho provato questo e, naturalmente, ho avuto difficoltà nel cercare di capire cosa fare. Ho tirato fuori i miei timbri  MFT e ho trovato il mio set “Lucky Dogs”.  Amo questo set ed è probabilmente perché amo i cani. Le espressioni sui loro piccoli musetti mi fanno ricordare  i miei cani.

In ogni caso, il mio biglietto di auguri è semplice e segue premessa di base del layout o schizzo.

I thought that I would do something that I normally would not do, color flowers green. In keeping with SSS Wednesday Challenge Bit O’Green, in honor of Saint Patrick’s Day, I decided to use the beloved Savvy Stamps Large Flower stamp and I wanted to try my hand at coloring them green using my Copic pens for this challenge. I did not want to use the same greens on all the flowers so each one is a bit different. And, since I was using YG00 for the background, the card needed a shot of color so I used YR15 in the upper flower. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Painted Friend die. I layered the wording in 3 white cardstock and then on the last layer used a glitter paper in a green apple green and offset it so that the white shows up a bit.

The stamping itself was stamped in Adirondack Earthtones Meadow Dye Ink color but I outlined the pistils in Copic .01 multiliner to give it a more illustrated look since I obviously wasn’t going for realism. 🙂

I thought it turned out rather nice though and was pleasantly surprised at the outcome.

Ho pensato di fare qualcosa di diverso; fiori di colore verde. E’ fuori della mia logica di fare una cosa del genere ma, siccome la sfida di Simon Says Stamp, “Un po’di  verde” in onore di Patrizio d’Irlanda (usanza irlandese in tutto il mondo) e perché adoro il timbro di Savvy Stamps Grande fiore, ho voluto provare la mia mano a colorare diversi verdi usando le mie penne Copic per questa sfida. Non volevo utilizzare gli stessi verdi su tutti i fiori così ognuno è un pò diverso. E, dal momento che stavo usando YG00 per lo sfondo, la carta ne aveva bisogno di un colpo di colore quindi, ho usato YR15 nel fiore superiore. Il sentimento è la fustella di Simon Says Stamp Painted Friend . Ho incollato 3 strati di cartoncino bianco e poi l’ultimo strato ho usato la carta con glitter in un verde mela e l’offset tutto in modo che il bianco si presenta un pò.

La timbratura si era impressa in colore Adirondack Earthtones Meadow Dye Ink ma ho delineato i pistilli in Copic .01 multiliner per dare un aspetto più illustrata dal momento che, ovviamente, non stavo andando per il realismo. 🙂

Ho pensato che si è rivelato piuttosto carino e sono rimasto piacevolmente sorpreso per il risultato.

Oggi, mentre stavo navigando sul web mi sono imbattuto nel sito Impression Obsession e blog. Avevo tirato fuori un paio di timbri di IO che non avevo mai usato (conservato nel senso di), ma non lo ho usato. Sul blog ha dichiarato che c’era la sfida “Divertimento con i fiori”. La sfida si conclude stasera e così ho pensato che adesso ho una maggiore motivazione di partecipare.

Amo le peonie e avevo il timbro n.F8739 di Alesa Baker Designs per IO. Ho voluto fare un biglietto di auguri per la festa della mamma, ma non avendo un bel saluto da usare ho usato un semplice saluto italiana di Auguri  Ho davvero bisogno di fare più biglietti di auguri in italiano … Ho usato molti colori Copic: RV000, RV02, RV04, RV06, RV10, RV13, RV21, RV23, RV32, RV34, Y00, Y11, Y15, YR20, C4, R22, R85, R20, R43, V04.

Today, as I was browsing the web I came across the Impression Obsession website and blog. I had pulled out a couple of IO stamps that I had never used (kept meaning to) but never got around to it. On the blog it stated that there was the “Fun with Flowers” challenge. The challenge ends tonight and so I thought what greater motivation than to enter.

I love peonies and had their stamp n.F8739 an Alesa Baker Designs for IO. I wanted to make it as a mother’s day card but did not have a nice greeting so I just used a simple Italian greeting of Auguri (best wishes).  I really need to make more Italian greeting cards…I used many copic colors: RV000, RV02, RV04, RV06, RV10, RV13, RV21, RV23, RV32,RV34,Y00,Y11,Y15,YR20, C4, R22,R85,R20, R43,V04.

Good morning and Happy Monday to all! I worked a few cards this past weekend. This is probably my favorite. I used my Blackcat cutting machine with a design from LD Designs that I’ve had a while and made a “For You” (Per te) card. I needed to feel some tropical influence. I just love the layered look and this has given me a bit more desire to use my machine more often. I had forgotten how much fun it is!

I also did some everyday cards using Essentials by Ellen Big Wish stamp set. I adore that hippo! for a quick birthday greeting!  My dog Benny was being adorable so I couldn’t pass up putting him in the photos! 🙂

 

And finally, Lawn Fawn’s “Sewn with Love” stamp set for a cute card “Sew glad we’re friends”. I combined an old stamp with the same greeting but used the new stamp set’s large Sew to add more oomph!

 

 

 

 

Salve a tutti. Benvenuti al mio blog “Cardsandsuch” (cartolineealtrecose). Quello che vorrei trasmettere con questo blog è la mia passione di usare carta, stoffa, lana…per fare biglietti di auguri che non solo possono essere spediti, ma anche incorniciati e diventare piccoli “oggetti d’arte”.

La lavorazione è manuale con l’uso di timbri e fustelle, ma faccio uso anche di macchine tipo plotter (Blackcat Cutter e Brother Scan n’ Cut). Esercito costantemente nuove tecniche con diversi colori come le penne copic, i colori Brusho, mattite aquarello, etc.

So,  I decided to try my hand at setting up a website to better showcase my cards. I used Go Daddy as the host and signed up last year but only got around to getting it done in the last month (since I got back from the states). To be honest, it was only because I had paid for the darn thing and I hate wasting money. So, here it is….www.limidesigns.com

It’s still a work in progress and I have until June to decide whether or not I want to continue with having it hosted by Go Daddy…or I just may switch…….Who knows…..One of the things I don’t like is that it doesn’t download all of my pictures from the various sources and I find it limiting.
